Pallavi was established in 1995 with the objective to make a strong contribution to the Australia’s multicultural society by bringing leading professional Carnatic music and dance artists from India to audiences in Sydney. We are a non profit organisation and hence keep our ticket prices to a minimum. From time to time we also feature Australian-based Carnatic musicians and organise lecture demonstrations by our visiting artistes.

Pallavi was founded by three music lovers V. Ramnath, VV Ramesh and Mohan Ayyar. Today, with the support of their families and a group of dedicated volunteers, they continue to run Pallavi, bringing some of the best Indian musicians to Sydney.

Since its inception, Pallavi has proudly organised over fifty quality events by eminent artistes from South India, showcasing their wonderful art in Australia. We have always strived to showcase India’s rich culture in its pristine state. We are fortunate to present many stalwarts such as Prof TN Krishnan, MS Gopalakrishnan, Lalgudi G. Jayaraman, Dr M. Balamuralikrishna, Umayalpuram Sivaraman, Prof Trichy Sankaran, Karaikudi Mani, Chitra Visweswaran and Malavika Sarukkai to name a few. Some of the young musicians we presented to our audience in the 1990s such as Sudha Ragunathan, Sanjay Subramanyam, Bombay Jayashri and S. Sowmya are now the senior vidwans of today.

Pallavi has earned a reputation for presenting well-organised concerts that commence on time and have minimal speeches - focusing on the pristine classical music of South India.
